Infrastructure is the catalyst for economic growth and poverty reduction. We will ensure that climate-resilient and quality physical infrastructure investment is distributed equitably to all parts of the country, prioritized based on social and economic merits.
Our policy includes a national program of investments in:
- Transportation infrastructure network consisting of roads, bridges, jetties, airports, airstrips, and wharves, with a focus on missing links;
- Digital infrastructure, connectivity and ICT;
- Clean, sustainable and affordable energy;
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene [WaSH]
We will:
- Establish an energy fund and invest in our natural energy resources – hydro, natural gas and solar – to provide clean, cheaper and reliable electricity to 80% of our population by 2032;
- Utilize the Coral Sea Submarine Cable project to make ICT services cheaper and widely accessible;
- Build on and support the current “Connect PNG” Program;
- Build international wharfs in Wewak and Vanimo to open up trade with Asia.
- Establish the National Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Authority and adopt legislation to regulate the sector;
- Deliver the Purari Hydro Electricity.
