9. Empower Youth, Women and Churches

Empowered youth and women can become key agents for change and development, enhance economic security of families and promote peace in our societies. Our core policies therefore places youth and women at the center of our development agenda.

PNG’s high population growth is driving a rapid increase in the proportion of young people, with 60% [5.4 million youth] between the ages of 15 and 25. PNG’s youth bulge is a ticking time bomb threatening our society. PFP will seize the opportunity to harness this demographic capital with our policies that will prevent marginalization and disillusionment. We will give voice to our youth.

PFP’s policies are pro-women. We will eradicate the slavery of women carting water daily, invest in infrastructure for the informal economy and support women in the MSME sector. Women will be involved in decision- making and leadership roles. We will eradicate poverty through education, better health and economic empowerment of women.

PFP will empower and partner with Churches and Faith-Based Organizations to implement our key policies. Churches play a critical role in development, and step in where Government services cannot reach the people.
