10. Secure and Sustainable Communities, Natural Environment and Disaster Preparedness

To enable our people to live secure and peaceful lives, and for businesses to thrive, PFP will invest in strengthening the work of the Law & Justice Sector, the work of churches and civil society in endangering peace and harmony and in empowering communities to do more in civic duties, empower youth and women into self-reliance work. We will address the critical problems of violence, crime and conflicts that binds our people in fear and displace thousands from their homes by investing in the Police Force.

PFP will ensure that PNG’s natural resources and environment are conserved and used for the collective benefit of all, and be replenished for the benefit of future generations. We will establish a climate fund that addresses the impact of climate change on the environment, as well as environment degradation by unsustainable human practices.

The Covid19 pandemic exposed PNG’s disaster unpreparedness. PNG is also prone to the effects of climate change, natural disasters, biosecurity and thousands of people displaced from their villages and have become “internally displaced” by natural disaster. We will establish biosecurity policy and legislation and policy on climate refugees and internally displaced people.
